Review:

Directed by Tony Scott and written by Larry Fergusson and Warren Skaaren, Beverly Hills Cop II is an action, adventure and a hilarious movie where Detroit cop, Foley has made his differences clear with his superior Bogomil. However, trouble never leaves them both and the movie goes on to show how they deal with situations that come their way and solve them in their own way.  Judge Reinhold and Jurgen Prochnow have contributed equally to the film.

Critics believe that the movie was more of a fun sequel and was just enough to suffice everyone. Eddy Murphy did a beautiful job along with Judge and Jurgen, their actions said it all. This movie is recommended for all those action lovers.

So if you haven’t watched the movie, you might want to check it out and especially if you’re someone who loves humour and action. It’s a 1 hour 45 minutes film, so it won’t take much of your time. Review:

Directed by Martin Brest and written by Danilo Bache, Beverly Hills Cops is an action, adventure, mystery, suspense and a hilarious film.  A Detroit cop, Foley is happy when his best friend, Mikey, visits him all the way from California. But soon Mikey is killed by someone named Zack. The film talks about how serious Foley gets after the murder and follows Mikey to discover the truth.

Critics believe that Murphy did an excellent job and that he is one of the few comedians of the early 80’s to assign some humour to various minor characters. Murphy is also known for his accustomed sense of claim and predominance that sets him above other Beverly Hills’ cops.

The audiences see Murphy as a streetwise cop, who makes an excellent one and has the perfect skills to investigate into any case. The casts include Judge Reinhold, John Ashton and others who have all played their parts equally well .The movie has a lot of humour which keeps it going. Review:

Another comedy flick set to hit the theaters this year is Tower Heist starring outrageously funny Eddie Murphy and classic comedy film man Ben Stiller. It revolves around a pack of blue-collar men who are screwed by their boss and robbed them of their pension, so to make it even, they decide to get back what was originally theirs and plan to rob him in his tower.

So the guys, who work their ass off to support their families, had their pension funds ripped off by the bad guy Bernie Madoff (with a surname like that, anyone would think that he will rob you) and his character is played well by Alan Alda. The guys who felt betrayed then decides to have a revenge on the scoundrel in his tower. Whether they make it or break it, it is up to us to see the movie. Murphy has been successful in the Shrek series being the voice of Donkey, and Stiller has had his share of funny films like the Focker trilogy. Getting the two of them together is not yet a certain click, but this movie will tell.

Brett Ratner is the director of the movie. It is quite interesting that he took this project since he was the director of X-Men: Last Stand which has a totally different genre compared to a comedy like this. However, since we already know that he has what it takes to produce a good movie, then this film may turn out to be good, too.

Review:

Safe is another crime action suspense thriller starring the most sought after action star of this generation, Jason Statham. He did a pretty good job at The Mechanic that after that, projects have just been flowing in.

Basically, it is like Commando of the new decade. The never-smiling Jason Statham will be saving a kid, 12 years old. And like most of his movies that we all love, here, he plays a retired elite agent who goes out to rescue the Chinese girl from villainous Triads. This group of gangsters is far more dangerous than other scoundrels you can think of.

Not only that, he will also try to use some highly sought after cool safe combination just to mess with the groups he has to deal with– corrupt NYC police, the Triads, and Russian gangsters. Along the way, he will do what we love him do best, kicking ass.

The director and writer of Safe is Boaz Yakin. He is also responsible for the stunning screenplay of the Disney blockbuster starring Jake Gyllenhaal– Prince of Persia.

Now that Statham is the star, who would not love Safe? Yakin did a pretty good job writing Prince of Persia and made Gyllenhaal look really good in it, so Statham should be good to see in Safe as well. However, the problem with getting too much attention is that it might not have a chance in the Oscars. Still, Safe is something that audiences will not only watch out for, but it’s a movie that the audiences will keep on talking about when they get out of the theater.

Mississippi Burning (1988)

Mississippi BurningGenre:Crime|Drama|Mystery

Running Time: 128 min

Directed By:  Alan Parker

Written By:  Chris Gerolmo

Cast:  Gene Hackman, Willem Dafoe and Frances McDormand

Movie Release Date: 27 January, 1989

Review:

This Alan Parker film, in its opening week, was considered to be a sure shot for the Oscars for its portrayal of Civil Rights and the 60s era, it came under a lot of intense scrutiny and negative criticism from many sections of society.

While the Black leaders felt that the role of their people in the civil rights movements had been underplayed, yet others felt that the facts were all wrong and small cross sections of people were portrayed as the society on the whole. This was considered to be a grave injustice. Although Parker had always been mired in controversy regarding the depiction of his movies, even this toned down, controlled version from his usual filming style was panned.

The movie talks about the killing of three civil rights workers (loosely based on true events) in Mississippi in 1964. There are mighty powerful scenes that grab you by your collar and force you sit up and watch the movie, but they are sadly few and far between. Gene Hackman as Agent Rupert Anderson delivers a power packed performance as does Frances McDormand playing the confused wife of the sadistic deputy Dourif.

A movie is nothing without a good story and narrative technique and these were majorly flawed. Although it did win the Oscar for the Best Cinematography that year, some believed that this was told by an outsider(Parker being British) who did not grasp the true essence if the Civil rights era.

Review:

Directed by Robert Ben Garant and written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, Balls of Fury is an action, adventure and hilarious movie where a former professional Ping-Pong artist Daytona is hired by a FBI agent to compete in the underground table tennis tournament and uncover the atrocious, Feng, whose empire has brought in mankind into jeopardy.

Critics believe that the stars in the movie are spirited and enthusiasts. The casts have done a good job and the movie has a strong story. Dan Fogler, Christopher Walker and George Lopez did exceedingly well in the film. Justice has also been done with respect to its script writing, direction, production and music.

Audiences feel that the movie is similar to many martial films. It’s more of a spoof film which is especially meant for those who love spoof films or martial films. Thomas Lennon’s performance is considered the best by many. Overall, the film has been appreciated by many. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should definitely check it out. It’s a good 1 hour and 30 minutes movie, so it’s not going to take a lot of your time.  It is a must see movie especially for those who love action and adventurous movies.

Kiss of the Dragon (2001)

Running Time: 98 min

Directed By: Chris Nahon

Written By: Jet Li (story), Luc Besson

Cast: Jet Li, Bridget Fonda and Tchéky Karyo

Movie Release Date: 6 july 2001

Review:

Kiss of the Dragon is an action movie released in the year 2001. This movie was made keeping in view the demands of Jet Li’s fans for another stunt movie from him. Most of the action scenes in the movie are based on martial arts.

In the movie,   Jet Li is an intelligence officer in China and is sent to investigate into affairs of one of the Chinese officers in Paris. But when he reaches there, the story takes a turn and the officer under investigation, with the help of two prostitutes, manages to get Li accused for the charge of his murder. Li somehow manages to team up with one of the prostitutes, who wants to rescue her daughter, and proves himself clean. He also rescues the prostitute’s daughter and kills the officer at a place known as Kiss of the Dragon. This is how the movie gets its title.

There are a number of difficult fight scenes in the movie. Most of them were done without the aid of safety wires which makes them a must see!

The movie had a more than average rating but it was banned in China as it showed negativity about Chinese culture. It still managed to generate revenue more than double its investment.

The Pink Panther (2006)

The Pink PantherGenre: Adventure|Comedy|Crime

Running Time: 93 min

Director: Shawn Levy

Written By: Len Blum

Cast: Steve Martin, Kevin Kline and Jean Reno

Movie Release Date: 28 April, 2006

Review:

The Pink Panther is the second movie in the Pink Panther series. It is a comic-action movie directed by HaraldZwart and written by Scott Neustadter, Michael H. Weber, and Steve Martin. Pink Panther is a very famous diamond which gets stolen and a flimsy but intelligent inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) is assigned the case. The film also stars Andy Garcia, Emily Mortimer, Jean Reno, Yuki Matzuki Alfred Molina and AishwariaRai.

The case is about missing treasures inclusive of the pink panther and a team of top detectives from  all over the world are put together to track down the thieves, and restore the stolen jewellery. Fun chases and the famous Jacques character, manages to bring laughter and comedy in the movie. The movie overall is huge let down and for once both the audience and the critics agree. The makers were accused of not utilising the talented team of actors they had on board. The movie received a lukewarm response worldwide and is a one-time watch for those who love to watch Steve Martin on screen.

All in all this is a movie is an ok watch if you have nothing better to do!
