Directed by Clint Eastwood and written by William Broyles Jr. et al, Flags of Our Fathers is a drama, action and adventurous film where in a very ferocious battle, Marines aggress over twelve thousand Japanese over the sacred Iwo Jima Island. The film goes on to show how the government rescues the three survivors to America to increase more funds bringing about hope and peace among the people.

Critics believe that Clint Eastwood’s movie has been a movie one could look up to and relate to with respect to reality and the true meaning of battle. The movie is considered to be a success. The film was more of an emotional epic with a lot of history which could be acknowledged as being worthy. This film reminds us of the damage and destruction that could be done to the most susceptible ones in society. Overall the film has been appreciated by critics and is recommended.

Directed by Tony Bill and written by Blake T. Evans and David S. Ward, Flyboys is a drama, action and adventurous movie. Review:

Directed by Barry Levinson and written by Mitch Markowitz, Good Morning, Vietnam is a drama and hilarious movie where a new disc jockey is sent from Crete all the way to Vietnam to bring  fun and happiness to the Armed Forces Radio. He does all he can for the armed forces, including visiting soldiers, when he is off air. Gradually a lot of people start liking him not only because he is an excellent jockey but also because he brings the soldiers back to life.

Critics believe that this levinson drama movie about Vietnam has been a star vehicle for Robin Williams who gave just the right performance.  The movie has been highly recommended because of its comedic output and its power to bring out the message, and if you’ve not watched this movie in a while, you should consider picking it up.

The movie was sensitive and strong and the message reached out clearly. Forest Whitaker also did justice to his role in the movie along with Tung Thanh Tran. Review:

The Ides of March is certainly a very political film, or to mildly put it, a movie that talks about politics, where an idealist ends up backstabbing and formulates dirty put-ons in order to score the presidential seat.

This film is drafted from the play written by Beau Willimon, and apparently based his play as well on the Howard Dean presidential campaign way back in 2004. While Howard Dean is not that young a presidential candidate, the depiction of the dirty politics is the inspiration for writing about this. All the deceit and lies shown in the campaign is definitely evident to be seen all throughout the movie.

The director is George Clooney, and it is quite a bit of a surprise, because he is not known to be involved in any type of politics. But it will be certain that the film will do its best to show the conservatives are the very evil corrupts the political system of America and they are the ones to blame in forcing the good, ideal liberals to be as lowly as those evil bastards.

While we may think that there is evil in all places of American politics, the film may be a little preacy, and Clooney is talented, yes. We just hope that he pulls this off. The Ides of March can be predicted to have Oscar nominations, plus a considerable ton of money in the box office.

Review:

The Iron Lady is an autobiography film of Margaret Thatcher, British prime minister. The movie will center on her activities and conclusions contributing to the controversial 1982 Falklands War.

This movie will revolve around the complex character of Iron Lady Thatcher and her motives and conditions while she was leading England that time. Thus far they have not declared casting of who will be Ronald Reagan, but it will definitely be a good surprise. They already drafted Meryl Streep who will lead the movie, and there will be no doubt that will have all kinds of liberal hate being the Iron Lady.

The director of this stunning film is Phyllida Lloyd, and her last product in the big screen was Mamma Mia!, which also has Streep in it. This might be the reason why the cast includes Streep. Nevertheless, Mama Mia! was good and it did make a lot in the box office. So this tandem might also be a good luck charm for The Iron Lady. Though of course, The Iron Lady is a more serious film with the two of them working with each other again.

The Oscars will never miss a film by Streep, so this has quality. This film might be nominated for an Oscar. A Best Film nomination may not be sure as of yet, but a Best Actress might be in the sidelines already. And because of the controversy that surrounds the story, a Best Screenplay award could be also be predicted.

Review:

Very similar to The Fighter that hit the cinemas early this year, Gavin O’Connor’s Warrior equalizes cruel in the ring action with a dose of broken family drama, focusing on the stresses on two brothers. Like the previous movie The Fighter, this film boasts of an enormously transformative, impressive performance by an English actor, who’s to be seen in the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises next year. And also, like all boxing movies, it seems that this has a predictable storyline.

But of course, no matter how similar their themes are, there will always be differences. The Fighter’s story was true to life; while Warrior is completely fictional. Also, the form of battle is different. The Fighter was all about boxing, while Warrior explores the unfamiliar form of mixed martial arts — the new sport that tries to penetrate the world of popular sports these days.

Compared to the famous Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC, mixed martial arts or MMA is from its name, a mix of anything. It’s like a blend of all sorts of martial arts. So while The Fighter’s rules are stictly evident just like how we have seen it for a long time, the MMA has still lots of new stuff to show us. And the director made sure that we will get to see those.

It hardly rescripts the rulebook, but the movie Warrior is a mighty, compelling and splendid sports family drama. Just like boxing movies with a punch– plus a kick.

When they’re separated, the movie tracks the one of a kind adventure of Joey as he inspires the people he meets and how his faithful friend Albert was there to save him.

Genre: War

Running Time: minutes

Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures

Directed By: Steven Spielberg

Cast: Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson and David Thewlis

Movie Release Date: December 28, 2011

Review:

The movie takes place in World War I, and it tells the story of a boy and his horse, and their undying friendship. Albert, the boy, is very attached to his horse Joey, and when Joey was forced to serve in the war, Albert does what he can to be able to connect with Joey again.

And while we know that Steven Spielberg is most popular for making sci-fi alien movies (even the Midwest is now influenced by his Cowboys and Aliens), he is still a decent director for any movie that you can think of, so it is expected that this movie will be as good as Spielberg.

It has been heard and news have been circling around that Spielberg have been dreaming of making a movie that is about the first World War, so this movie is the perfect opportunity to fulfill what he has been wanting for the longest time. Also, this film will be a good basis for kids’ homework since most movies about war more often than not always center on World War II, and Nazis are all we know.

With almost everything being adapted from another story, this film is just the same, with it being based by Michael Morpurgo’s novel of the same title. Since this is a pretty good story, and the director is an icon of Hollywood movies, then it can rake in a lot of Oscar nominations. Plus, it is definite that this will score high in the box office.

Movie Release Date: December 16, 2011

Review:

The drama and comedy movie The Descendants that stars George Clooney as the Hawaiian land baron who’s been indifferent for a number of years to his family– his wife and two kids. When a boating accident happens to his wife, he is forced to reevaluate his life and then take the step to reexamining his torn relationship with his two children. It is the sort of family drama that will bring people back together when they are experiencing a family problem.

George Clooney’s character is Matt King, the kind of man that he sets out to search the land together with his daughters to look for the lover of his wife hoping that it would keep the family together. It may sound strange, but that’s the storyline that this movie begins with.

The director of The Descendants is Alexander Payne, and is also a part of the writing team. The movie is drafted from the the novel written by Kaui Hart Hemmings. Alexander Payne’s portfolio has Sideways written in it– in which he was the director and writer. With Sideways to back him up, this movie must be good. And you would know that he is a very talented guy.

Though we cannot entirely count on The Descendants to rake in awards or anything similar to that, but it will rake in a big chunk of money. But who knows, it also has the potential of being Oscar-nominated. It may have its luck with a powerful director and cast.
