Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)

Director: Chris Columbus

Cast: Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a fantasy-adventure film directed by Chris Columbus. The film is an adaptation of “The Lightning Thief”, the first novel in the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series by Rick Riordan. An imaginative and simplistic visit to classical Greek mythology. Logan Lerman is Percy Jackson and Brandon T. Jackson is Grover Underwood, the satyr, Pierce Brosnan plays Chiron. The movie revolves around this trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson who is diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia and is about to be kicked out of the school . Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod – half human, half god. In the movie Zeus’ (King of the Gods in Greek Mythology) lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy’s family, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves. Although the movie is different than the book, going into the movie with an open mind makes it a delight. I love the series by Rick Riordan and really enjoyed the movie. Uma Thurman and Rosario were standout – they were both Fabulous in their roles.Kids will love it, and adults may relish Pierce Brosnan’s character.

Clash Of The Titans (2010)

From some time we are seeing a different genre of movies comes under category “Apocalyptic”. It’s not new trend but from sometimes every second movies seems moving in that direction…

Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 mythical adventure film about the myth of Perseus… Although little difference :) First movie was love story where other part of story were coiled with it while in new edition love has been sidetracked and again we are facing extinction from internal war of gods…

Movie is saga of the mortal son of the god Zeus who took a perilous journey to stop the god Hades and his minions from underworld from spreading their evil….

The Book of Eli (2010)

Another post-apocalyptic tale… A Lone man fighting his way across wasted America in order to protect a sacred book which holds the secrets to salvation of mankind.

How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

Director: Dean DeBlois, Chris Sanders
Cast: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kristen Wiig

How to Train Your Dragon, based on Cressida Cowell’s children’s book, is DreamWorks’ most genuinely charming film in years. It is a quite simple and sweet story told in an entertaining, imaginative and heartfelt way. The dragon designs are wonderful, the action is exciting and the anti-warmongering message is timely and persuasive. The film looks terrific with the colors burst out of the screen like fireworks and the opening dragon attack sequence is genuinely exhilarating. The story takes place in a mythical Viking world where a young Viking teenager named “Hiccup” aspires to follow his tribe’s tradition of becoming a dragon slayer. After finally capturing his first dragon, and with his chance at finally gaining the tribe’s acceptance, he finds that he no longer has the desire to kill it and instead befriends it. It involves series of emotions. This is the best movie I’ve seen since the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The 3D effects are thrilling and the movie has a great story, amazing animation, nonstop action and a positive and constructive message. In nutshell I can say that this is one of the best animated film of the year which is beautifully written, designed and executed.00

Valentine’s Day (2010)

Director: Garry Marshall
Cast: Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher

Valentine’s Day is a movie full of big stars. I expected a lot from them and they were up to it. This movie had me feeling for, especially some of the main characters. Ashton Kutcher had one of the bigger roles to play in this movie which he played quite magnificently. Taylor Swift was very good in this movie. The story had me intrigued from beginning to end, seeing how all the different characters were connected and the chemistry between each couple was very touching also. Watch it with your partner it will make you feel closer and if you don’t watch it with your partner you are definitely going to miss them. And is you watch it single it will give you hope that there’s someone out there for you. A good movie to watch, I will rate it 8 out of 10.

Edge Of Darkness (2010)

Director: Martin Campbell
Cast: Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Bojana Novakovic, Shawn Roberts

Edge of Darkness is a 2010 film adaptation of the 1985 BBC television series. The film stars Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone, and is directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Michael Wearing, who also directed and produced the series respectively. Edge of Darkness follows a detective (Gibson) investigating the murder of his activist daughter (Bojana Novakovic), while uncovering political conspiracies and cover-ups in the process. Edge of Darkness is a very good and satisfying thriller. The whole plot is based on Thomas Craven, a single father, has been a Boston detective for many years. His 24-year-old daughter Emma, his only child, is killed on the front steps of his home. At first it appears that Craven was the intended target. But eventually He learns his daughter led a secret life that led to her murder. Now Craven is all set to find answers about Emma’s death which becomes a transforming experience that changes his life. Even though Gibson gives a fine performance, this film succeeds because of Director Martin Campbell, who keeps the pace up and the tension rising.

MacGruber (2010)

Director: Jorma Taccone
Cast: Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph

Written by Will Forte and John Solomon and directed by Jorma Taccone, MacGruber was released in May of 2010. Starring Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer, and Will Forte as MacGruber, this movie appeals to me for one very simple reason. The guy who’s supposed to save the world? Yeah, he’s rocking a mullet. Something that would have worried me severely in real life, now tickles my funny bone since I’m not one of the poor saps who has to be saved by him. MacGruber, despite his hair, is a hero. With over 16 purple hearts to add to his boatload of other awards and medals, he’s a real man’s man, and therefore the perfect candidate to defeat Dieter Von Cunth when the guy goes and steals a nuclear warhead. In my mind, any criminal who would steal a warhead is automatically moved to the bottom of my shit list, since the very fact that they’re willing to go that far most likely means that they’re badass enough to take me down. It would be like me challenging a Charlie’s Angel when Little Debbie was still my one and only friend. Not smart. But whatever, this is television so obviously Macgruber is going to win anyway. And that’s not a spoiler, so much as my own innate sense of cynicism.
