Review: Directed by Peyton Reed and written by Nicholas Stroller, Yes Man is a hilarious movie where Carl Allen comes to a point in his life where everything starts to stop until one day, he decides to enroll himself in a personal development programme based on the idea that he will say yes, to almost everything. The film then goes on to show what happens to Carl after accepting this programme into his life.

Critics believe that the movie is fun to watch with family and that it brings a lot of chuckles. As usual, Jim Carrey has played his role well along with Zooey Deschanel and Bradley Cooper who did well. The movie is considered to be a romantic comedy film that is cute and amicable especially for all those who love romantic movies.

Audiences believe that Jim Carrey did well in the movie and that the film was likeable as well as enjoyable. Deschanel’s cuteness was sentimental, Carry’s antics were pretty fascinating and Darby’s geekisms were rather cute. Review:

The Three Musketeers 3D is just another of the numerous remakes of the classic. But because of the new technology that this age brings us, this time, we get to see it in 3D. Similar to the several other adaptations of The Three Musketeers, this new take still shows D’Artagnan as the young man who desires to be anointed as a Musketeer, and his dream is to protect the King of France. Of course after that he crosses paths with the three renowned musketeers, Porthos, Athos, and Aramis, then becomes friends with the three. As he tags along with them to help them save the throne of France, D’Artagnan falls in love, but becomes the best of all the musketeers.

The director of this film is Paul W.S. Anderson, who will also be responsible for the latest Milla Jovovich movie, Resident Evil 5. Since RE5 is to be released soon as well, then the director must be fantastic. Just as it is difficult to make a regular film, then a 3D film is much harder to accomplish. So if you can make and release two 3D films in a year, then that must be an achievement.

What’s also good to know about the movie is that the original writer of this story, Alexandre Dumas, wrote a ton of works and 156 films have been based on his writings. So no matter how many remakes The Three Musketeers goes through, it is a timeless favorite. Another famous work of his that has been a hit in the theaters is the Count of Monte Cristo, starring Jim Caviezel.

Father of the Bride II (1995)

Father of the bride part iiGenre: Comedy|Family|Romance

Running Time: 106 min

Directed By: Charles Shyer

Written By:  Albert Hackett, Frances Goodrich

Cast:  Steve Martin, Diane Keaton and Martin Short

Movie Release Date:  8 December, 1995

Review:

The mere mention of the title “Father of the Bride” brings a smile to almost every face, so its sequel was sure to evoke the same emotion. It doesn’t fall too far from the original, but maybe does not cause the same reactions as the first.

In  this Martin (as George Banks) is just coming to terms with his daughter’s wedding and is not quite ready for any change in  status yet. So the fact that he is going to be not just a grandfather, but a father once again has put his life in overdrive. With many of the cast members from the original repeating their original roles, it is certainly a movie with a lot of potential. In essence sometimes, this movie is more into exploring relationships and family values than actually providing humor. But George’s apparent mid life crisis does cause for a few hilarious situations. It was also felt that the character of Eugene Levy as the greedy Arab was an unnecessary addition to the cast and could have been done without.

It is a fu upbeat film, strongly based on family values and principles and also delves into the great bond between a father and daughter wit too much drama and high strung emotion. Now that is a feel good movie and plot if there is any.

Notting Hill (1999)

Notting HillGenre: Comedy| Romance

Running Time: 124 min

Directed by: Roger Michell

Written by: Richard Curtis

Cast: Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts and Richard McCabe

Movie Release Date: 28 may 1999

Review:

Notting Hill starring the famous Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts was the biggest grosser at the box office in 1999 of all the British movies released that year. It is a slow romantic comedy which though critically acclaimed had mixed responses from the audience. The story is about a divorced William Thacker (Hugh Grant) who owns a book shop at Notting Hill, London and how he meets a super famous celebrity Anna Scott (Julia Roberts).

Though Anna has name, fame and all the wealth she is still not happy and is searching for that “something” in life. Will on the other hand, runs his not so successful book shop and is missing a partner after his divorce. Anna and Will meet accidentally once at his bookshop and then on the street where Will unfortunately spills a drink over her and invites her to his house to clean herself up. That’s when the attraction begins. They exchange a kiss and start seeing each other frequently.  However, they separate due to a few misunderstandings.

A year later, after a few twist and turns in their relation they reunite forever. The movie has portrayed the unexpressed love between Anna and Will really well but the plot does get a little dragged due to a number of events showcasing the ups and downs between them. The movie is not over emotional and can be a good one if you are on a date.

Will Smith plays Alex”Hitchens”, who helps men woo girls. Albert, played by Kevin James, is infatuated with Allegra, played by Amber, and Alex comes along to help him. Sara successfully unmasks Hitch and along with that Albert’s relationship collapses. Towards the end of the movie, Alex finds out that none of his suggested methods had worked with Albert and Allegra. Rather they fell in love with their clumsiness and imperfections.  Thus being themselves was the key of the successes of most relationships. When Sara comes to know, Allegra and Albert’s story, she realizes that Alex was not at fault and forgives him. The film ends with the marriage of Albert and Allegra, where Hitch and Sara are invited. A must watch!

Directed By: Drake Doremus

Written By: Drake Doremus, Ben York Jones

Cast: Felicity Jones, Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawrence

Movie Release Date: October 28, 2011

Review:

Romance is both a tangible and gushy story, the one that could be profoundly personal and grievous for viewers to go through. Drake Doremus directed the film Like Crazy attractively and it exemplifies how a first real love can be as electrifying and blissful and also devastating at the same time. When an English college student begins to fall for her classmate that is American, they go on an intense and life-changing love story only to be driven apart because of her overstaying in the U.S. and her visa can’t make her stay longer.

Like Crazy studies how a college couple confronts the real obstacles of being in a relationship when you are forced to be apart. Just like other long-distance relationship movies like Going the Distance and the more profound The Lakehouse, this movie is for the hopeless romantics that are succumbed into romantic movies that give the protagonists challenges that will make you cry. Like Crazy shows both the hope and the heartbreak that long-distance relationships have to go through because of love.

The film actually looks sweet and Felicity Jones won a Sundance award in this so this should be good. And if a Sundance film goes mainstream, then it has the guts to do so. Other than that, it also has Anton Yelchin which is a great addition and partner to Jones.

Review:

This film is the follow-up to the hit romcom Valentine’s Day, and this time, the holiday is switched from happy hearts day to the beginning of the new year.

It seems as if the producers of the film want to just bring back a similar ensemble for this second installment, and it even has the same writer and director. So most likely, it may follow the exact same format as that of Valentine’s Day, with a mix of different people searching for romance in the most different of ways.

Although the fact is that New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day are two of those days in a year that has the highest suicide rates, we hope that this movie will bring people to happy thoughts, and not some scary ones. After all, it’s a holiday to be celebrated and welcomed with a bang and a new life.

Though it can never be certain yet if it will make the same money as that of the former film, we are sure that the casting director will do good in getting actors that will surely entice everyone to watch this movie. Valentine’s Day was star-studded, so New Year’s Eve should be too. The fans would be very happy knowing that the hottest stars will be seen in this new romcom to hit the theaters just right before 2012 begins, and it might even make a good start for the new year.
