Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Directed: Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth
Cast: Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender
“And once we’re in enemy territory, as a bushwhackin’ guerrilla army, we’re gonna be doin’ one thing and one thing only… killin’ Nazis.” Believe me. Just that phrase alone, and the fact that it was said by Brad Pitt, was enough to have me thinking to myself, ‘OMG. This is going to be SO awesome’.
So let’s all say thank you to director Quentin Tarantino. After actually watching the movie I realized that it wasn’t necessarily a comedy so much as it was funny for those with a warped sense of humor. Brad Pitt plays as Lt. Aldo Raine who trains his troop of Basterds (Jewish-American solders) to murder Nazis as brutal a fashion as possible to cut down on the Third Reih’s morale.
All in all this movie simply proved that Tarantino is a director to keep your eye out for if you’re looking for a new, twisted view of the world.
