Madagascar: Escape to Africa (2008)

Director: Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath

Cast: Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen

The first installment of the Madagascar series went on to become a commercial hit with the kids loving the story and plotline that had some hilarious moments with the right timing of humor. This gave rise to a sequel that was better and funnier than the first film, thanks to the changes that the director Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath made.

The plot revolves around the same four characters – Alex the Lion, Marty the zebra, Gloria the hippo and Melman the giraffe. These animals had escaped from the zoo at New York and landed up in the island of Madagascar instead of being shipped to Kenya. So, the sequel continues with these four animals trying to find their way back to Africa where they were supposed to be free and live in the jungles. This plot involves some sub stories to each character that is centered on their past life and home coming. With the help of penguins and a few more additional characters like Zuba, they land in Africa and learn to live with their natives.

The tale has a strong plot line and quality is not compromised and hence ends up becoming one of the most successful animated movies.
