Rio is an upcoming animation adventure and comedy film set to release on 15th April, 2011 in the USA. The film has been directed by Carlos Saldanha who is noted for animation ventures like Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Robots, Gone Nutty and Ice Age. The screenplay of the film is by Don Rhymer and the film has been produced by Chris Jenkins and Bruce Anderson. The voices of the various characters of the film have been given by Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, Jemaine Clement, Jake T. Austin, Bernardo de Paula, Leslie Mann, Tracy Morgan, Will.i.am and Jamie Foxx.
The film follows the story of Blu, a domesticated bird resident at a bookstore in Moose Lake, Minnesota, who is the last of his kind. Soon, scientists learn that another macaw was spotted in South America and that the macaw, Jewel is female. They take him out of Minnesota and send him to Rio de Janeiro to meet her. There Blu learns to control his fear of flying in order to win her heart. The film goes on well until both of them get kidnapped by poachers to sell them and earn a fortune. After they escape from the poachers, they avoid thieves and their pet cockatoo Nigel with help from Rafael, a wise Toucan.
