Super 8 (2011)
Director: J.J. Abrams
Cast: Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Amanda Michalka, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich
Super 8 is a science fiction film that is scheduled for release on June 10, 2011 in both conventional and IMAX formats. This English language American film is written and directed by J.J. Abrams, and produced by Steven Spielberg, J. J. Abrams and Bryan Burk. The music of the film is composed by Michael Giacchino, cinematography is by Larry Fong, editing by Maryann Brandon and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The casting of the film includes Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Amanda Michalka, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Gabriel Basso, and Colin Mathews.
The film is set in Ohio of 1979 when six young children use a Super 8 camera to make a zombie movie. One night while they were filming, the children saw a truck collide with a train and from the destruction emerges something unbelievable.
The movie looks very promising, however, it definitely seems a lot less scary than the first trailer but J.J. Abrams said it himself that he was trying to capture the spirit of old Steven Spielberg films and his own personal affection with Super 8 cameras from that era. This movie is definitely looking like what Abrams said it would be about in his interviews. It looks like a cross between E.T. and close encounters and all of that stuff.
