The story is a brilliant idea to have fictional characters come together to fight the evils of the world. These heroes are the Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Ishmael, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dorian Gray, Mina Harker and Tom Sawyer creations of H G Wells, Jules Verne, Herman Melville, Robert Louis Stevenson, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker and Mark Twain.
The villain turns out to be M who turns out to be Moriarty, the arch enemy of Sherlock Holmes. The movie released on July11, 2003 did good business and grossed more than 179 million dollars.
