The Other Guys (2010)
Director: Adam McKay
Cast: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Ray Stevenson, Derek Jeter
Will Ferrel and Mark Walberg are a strangely appropriate pair for this movie, and it’s a testament to each man’s skill that they are able to work so well together. It’s rare to see an actor who usually specializes in dramas or other seriously themed movies, team up with Will Ferrel, who has made a reputation for himself in comedies. In The Other Guys, two NYC detectives, who happen to be as unalike as two men can possible be, team up in the hopes of emulating the men in blue that they idolize the most. However, because Will Ferrel is often synonymous with comedy, the fact that their path to glory isn’t as smooth as they had hoped it would be shouldn’t come as a surprise. Directed by Adam McKay, there are a lot of familiar names and faces in this film. Samuel L. Jackson, the Rock (even though he goes by Dwane Johnson now), Derek Jeter, and more can be found. Rated PG-13, will be released in August of 2010.
