Wolf Creek (2005)
Director: Greg McLean
Cast: Cassandra Magrath, Kestie Morassi, Nathan Phillips, John Jarratt
A horror directed and written by Greg Mclean, Wolf Creek to my great disappointment, has nothing to do with wolves or creeks. Which means the Aussies lied to me.
With John Jarratt as Mick taylor, Cassandra Magrath as Liz Hunter, Kestie Morassi as Kristy earl, and Nathan Phillips as Ben Mitchell, Wolf Creek is set in the Outback of Australia. Three friends set out on an exploration of Australia’s Wolf Creek National Park (which actually means the Aussies didn’t lie). When they come back and try to leave it’s only to learn that their car won’t start.
When Mick Taylor comes along they think they’ve been saved. What they don’t know until too late is that even Australia can have its share of cannibalistic hillbillies. On a side note, this movie made me feel really bad for hillbillies in general. Whether their serial killers or not, they’re being exploited in the media. I mean, this is the 9th scary movie I’ve seen this year that uses a hillbilly as the main mode of murder and mayhem. I mean, do they even call Australian hillbillies ‘hillibillies’? Think about it.
